Towns and villages

The nearby village of Dolton is approximately two miles from Honey Meadow, offering a handful of independent shops and a couple of good pubs. Further afield, the historic town of Great Torrington is around 20 minutes away by car and offers a choice of great places to eat and drink as well as a busy high street, pannier market and two large convenience stores. The town is also home to the renowned Plough Arts Centre which attracts an amazing programme of touring plays and performers.

Half an hour away, South Molton is the gateway to Exmoor and dates back to Saxon times. With a traditional market square, attractive historic architecture and some great shopping, local cafes and independent shops, the town is well worth a visit. Further north towards the coast, the harbour town of Bideford is packed with shops, cafes and restaurants as well as pubs, markets and the popular Riverside Quay.

Near to Bideford is charming Instow, a picturesque town on the water with a glorious sandy beach and plenty of things to do. Also on the coast, the world famous village of Clovelly is a must see destination. A working fishing village, pedestrianised Clovelly centres around a 14th Century harbour, accessed by a steep, cobbled street. The postcard perfect day trip for any visit to North Devon.

Further afield, Lynton and Lynmouth are picturesque twin villages that offer a taste of coastal life with boat trips, cliff walks and good access to landmarks like the Valley of Rocks and the Coleridge Way.

The North Devon coast is famed for its dramatic cliffs and glorious stretches of golden beach. Choose from the town beaches at Westward Ho!, Instow and Croyde or discover the huge sandy expanses of Saunton Sands, Putsborough and Woolacombe.
